What is it called when you sing without words

More specifically, the term most often used to describe singing without words is to vocalize. Vocalizing is usually sung on an open vowel sound or (ah, ee, etc.), is typicality structured both melodically and rhythmically. Similarly, 'Songs' using any/all of these sounds without words is generally called a “Vocalise.”
