How difficult is Pathetique first movement?
Re: Is the Pathetique considered "difficult"? The first movement is around about grade 5/6 here, but even still so few people play it properly, and it's that that makes it difficult. Easy for ameteurs, difficult for professional you might say.
How long does it take to learn Pathetique Sonata?
With average sight-reaidng skills ( and 2 hours daily practice) the first movement of the Pathetique could take 3-6 months to master - the 2nd movement a little less.
Is Pathetique Sonata 3rd movement hard?
As far as the overall sonata goes the Pathetique is probably harder. But the 3rd movement of the Moonlight is harder than any of the movements of the Pathetique, IMO. The first mvt. as you know is horribly overplayed but quite difficult to play correctly.

Re: What grade level is Beethoven's Pathetique sonata? According to the RCM Syllabus, Beethoven's Op. 13 is listed under Gr. 10, but you don't need to know the entire sonata.
