What are dark chords?

It's when we mix harmony with dissonance that things really start to sound devilishly dark. So, for example, throw a minor second (♭2 or ♭9) interval in to a major chord (i.e. moving the octave root up by a semitone) and suddenly that bright and warm major sound gets an injection of tension and darkness.

How do you make evil sounding chords?

The resolution of the flattened 5th on every other chord emphasises the b5 tri-tone. To really get this chord (and progression) sounding really evil, put a generous amount of gain on try alternating between big sustaining strums and staccato chugging.

What key is ominous?

The key of Ominous is C Major.
