Those who have difficulty in telling right from left often develop their own techniques – for example placing their left thumb at right angles to their index finger to make an “L” representation for their “left” side. It appears however that these techniques remain fallible and fail to combat this issue in all cases.
What is right left disorientation?
Left-right disorientation describes confusion of the right and left limbs and suggests a lesion in the dominant parietal lobe. It can be tested by asking the patient to show you their right and then their left hand, and then asking them to touch their left ear with their right hand and vice-versa.
