Do I need to learn to read music to play guitar?
Reading music is not an essential skill to have when learning to play guitar, especially if you are playing rock and pop music. Many great guitarists cannot read music. There are other forms of notation to help guitarists and allow music to be written, called 'tabs'. Tabs aren't the ultimate savior, though.
