Why do my drums sound like bongos

Why do my drums sound like bongos

The reason they sound high is because they're tuned high. If you like the pitch then add muffling to take away some of the boing and add attack, but if you're looking for lower pitch then just tune them down. Also, the higher your reso gets in pitch over the batter, the more boing you will get.

How do I stop my drums from echoing?

You can play with both the beater head and resonant head to minimize resonance among drums. If your drums are warped or not super high quality, this can be difficult but practice makes perfect. Also some carefully placed gaff tape or a gel pad can work magic.

Why do my tom drums sound bad?

Holding your finger down in the middle of the head to help deaden some of the overtones helps. If you tune all your toms that way and they still sound bad then get new heads (I like Evans G2 clear) and try tuning again. Tune the batter head tight and the resonate head very loose.

Why do drummers tune their drums?

One of the most overlooked and misunderstood aspects of drumming is drum tuning. While drums generally aren't tuned to specific pitches, they do need to be tuned to produce clear, full tones. Learning how to tune your drum set will make you sound better and encourage you to play more often.

What causes a drum to make sound?

Striking the head of the drum changes its shape and compresses the air inside the shell. The compressed air presses on the bottom head and changes its shape. Then, these changes are transmitted to the drum shell and reflected back, and this action is repeated, creating a vibration.
