How are the octaves numbered?
The octaves are labeled from lowest to highest, beginning with “0,” and continuing in numerical order (“1,” “2,” “3,” etc.). The pitch middle C is C4, which is useful to memorize. Example 2. The notes C4, D4, E4, F4, G4, A4, and B4.
What does C4 mean in music?
