Do all chords have names?
Most chords have three notes though. Chords derive their names from the root note; so a C chord has C for its root note and a G7 chord will have G. The interval between the root note and the third determines whether a chord is a major or minor.
How many types of chords are there?
There are three main types of chords: triads, seventh chords, and extended chords. You can form a chord by using a formula based on the major scale or on intervals.
Are there 8th chords?
Chords do have "8ths, 10ths, 12ths and 14ths". They're just called roots 3rds, 5ths and 7ths. With no 7th in the chord, a 13th is a 6th - regardless of what octave it's in.
