What is meaning of Cross in music?
Polyrhythm, also called Cross-rhythm, the simultaneous combination of contrasting rhythms in a musical composition. Rhythmic conflicts, or cross-rhythms, may occur within a single metre (e.g., two eighth notes against triplet eighths) or may be reinforced by simultaneous combinations of conflicting metres.
What does a cross mean in text?
In academic texts, I've very often come across a cross (no pun intended; I mean this: † ). It is used as a footnote marker after people's names, and for a moment, it always makes me think its purpose is to denote that the person has passed away (which is not the case).
