What kind of tape do you use on a violin fingerboard?

To assist beginning violinists, some violin teachers use thin strips of colored tape (e.g. 1/8" graphic chart tape or pinstripe auto detailing tape) to mark where students should place their fingers on the violin fingerboard.

What tape can I use on violin?

Painter's tape would be the best bet. I used to use it to cables on walls in college it doesn't really pull off paint so you should be good. Plus Painter's tape comes in blue normally but has other colors as well. I had a Don't Fret brand fingerboard sticker on my violin for probably 5 or 6 years before I took it off.

Should I use finger tape violin?

There is no need for tape because the notes you produce will tell you if you r plying in tune, so if you use tape, u r not using ear, just as you mentioned.
