Are brushes quieter than sticks?
Brushes have a different feel to sticks, and barely any rebound, but they're super quiet. Due to the different feel, brushes require a different technique. When doing rolls, the benefit here is you'll improve your strength, since you're relying on your muscles and technique (rather than rebound) when using brushes.
Do drummers use brushes?
Drummers now use these brushes to produce varied, softer yet exciting tones and effects such as swooshing sounds, which drumsticks cannot deliver. Brushes are also used for drum playing that requires softer or lower volumes.
Are lighter drumsticks better?
While thicker, heavier sticks provide more volume and durability, lighter sticks are thinner and easier to handle. Heavier sticks are a good choice where a lot of projection is needed, whereas lighter sticks are better for situations where finesse is required.
