Where should your subwoofer be placed?
Typically, you position a subwoofer along the front wall of the room. Moving all of the bass sounds to the subwoofer gives your front speakers the ability to focus on mid- and high-range frequencies. (The subwoofer can handle all the low-frequency bass sounds in a home theater.)
Can you put subwoofer in back of room?
You can place a subwoofer behind you or in the back of the room but this is likely not going to be the most optimal location. Ideally, the subwoofer should be placed at the front of the room pulled at least 6-inches away from the wall for the best low-frequency audio signal performance.
How do I work out how many speakers I need in my room?
Wall mount (indoor and outdoor)
- Calculate the distance you need between the speakers: Speaker distance = 6 x (Mounting height - 1)
- Calculate the number of speakers needed: ...
- Example: An office with a mounting height of 2.5m (8ft) requires the distance between the speakers to be 9m (6 x (2.5 - 1)).
How is speaker placement calculated?
The easiest way to figure out the speaker placement is by marking the centerline on the wall opposite. This mark is exactly 180° from the center speaker and should be identical to the center speaker. Measure the distance from the rear wall, accounting for speaker depth, to the MLP.
