On pretty much every guitar the bridge should be located so that the break point of the string will be exactly at the distance of the scale length, from the nut. The scale length of any guitar is defined as double the distance from the nut to the 12th fret.
How high should bridge be on Strat?
Other players like to set the bridge at a much higher angle, so that the pitch of notes and chords can be pulled dramatically up and down. The Fender spec for most Stratocasters says to set the bridge so that its back is 1/8″ off the top.
Where should a bridge be placed on a guitar?
To find out the general area where the bridge should be placed, measure the length of your neck from the nut to the 12th fret. Take that distance and double it. That is the distance from the nut that your bridge should generally sit.
