Is Spitfire a VST?

We provide a VST2, VST3, AAX and an AU, so as long as your chosen DAW supports one of those plugin formats, you're good to go.

Are Spitfire Labs free?

It's completely free to download and use, as long as you register for a Spitfire Audio user account (also free).

Does Spitfire use Kontakt?

The above message means that the library does not use Kontakt at all, and will instead load as a standalone 'Instrument' in your DAW. Examples of this are Hans Zimmer Strings, Eric Whitacre Choir, and BT Phobos.

Is Spitfire Audio royalty free?

Yes, you can use our libraries on commercial recordings you release. Provided you have paid or received a free license of the library (e.g. LABS, Discover) through Spitfire Audio the recordings you make with our libraries will be royalty free.
