How is speaker placement calculated?

The easiest way to figure out the speaker placement is by marking the centerline on the wall opposite. This mark is exactly 180° from the center speaker and should be identical to the center speaker. Measure the distance from the rear wall, accounting for speaker depth, to the MLP.

How high should surround speakers be placed?

The surround speakers should be 2-3 feet above the listener, and 4-5 feet above wouldn't be that bad either (as long as your ceiling isn't 30 feet tall (you want the sound to bounce off of it and back down to the listener).

How should I arrange my speakers?

Speakers should be laid out so that they play along the length of the room. If you have a surround-sound system for your TV in mind, your chair or sofa should ideally be placed nearer the middle of the room and not too close to the back wall.
