What are solfege hand signs used for?
Solfege, Curwen, or Kodaly hands signs are a system of hand symbols representing the different pitches in a tonal scale. They're used to provide a physical association of a pitch system to help connect inner hearing and reading of pitches with musical performance.

Do – Make a fist with your palm facing down. Re – Straighten your fingers (keeping them together), and bring your hand up to make a 45-degree angle with the ground. Mi – Keep the same hand shape, but move your hand so that it is parallel with the ground.
