What is articulation on saxophone?
Articulation refers to the way a tone is started ('attack') and ended ('release'). On the saxophone the tongue and the breath are used for articulation. The tone can be started and ended with the breath, e.g. : "Hoooo"
What is the articulation symbol?
In music notation articulation marks include the slur, phrase mark, staccato, staccatissimo, accent, sforzando, rinforzando, and legato. A different symbol, placed above or below the note (depending on its position on the staff), represents each articulation.
