Pitch Raise: A Pitch Raise is the process of 'pre-tuning' to get the piano closer to correct pitch. This is a rough tune, and takes about half the time of the Standard Tune and costs $50. This is sometimes referred to as Pitch Adjustment, since it is sometimes necessary to do a dramatic lowering of pitch.

How much does a pitch raise cost on a piano?
A pitch raise, if necessary, is an additional $30. (If a piano hasn't been tuned for a few years it will usually have dropped in pitch. In this case it will need a pitch raise before it can be effectively tuned.)
How much is a pitch raise?
Some tuners include pitch raises as a complimentary service on top of a standard piano tuning. Other tuners can charge up to $100 for a pitch raise (depending on the amount of work required).
Can a piano be tuned after 20 years?
A new piano, or a piano 10, 15 or 20 years old that has never been serviced needs tuning three or four times before stabilizing. The only exception is when a new piano has been sitting on the showroom floor for several months and has gone through several in-house, or showroom tunings before purchased.
