What is a MusicXML file?
MusicXML is a digital sheet music interchange and distribution format. The goal is to create a universal format for common Western music notation, similar to the role that the MP3 format serves for recorded music.
How does MusicXML work?
MusicXML provides two XSLT stylesheets to convert back and forth between the two document types. The parttime. xsl stylesheet converts from <score-partwise> to <score-timewise>, while the timepart. xsl stylesheet converts from <score-timewise> to <score-partwise>.
How do I open a MusicXML file?
Import MusicXML
- File Name. Navigate to the folder containing the MusicXML file you would like to import. Click to display its name here.
- Open. Click Open (or press ENTER) to open the MusicXML file specified in this dialog box.
- Cancel. Click Cancel to return to the score without creating a new file.
Can MuseScore Open XML?
Once you have a MXL or XML file, open MuseScore and choose File → Open... to load your file.
