The tenor recorder, like the soprano recorder, is tuned in C, but is pitched an octave lower. Because of its larger size, many tenors have keys to make it easier to play the lowest C and C♯, and occasionally D and D♯.

Is tenor recorder hard to play?

You can get one or two more notes with standard fingerings, and after that it all becomes very illogical and hard to play anyway. The only bad ideal is not to play recorder. Tenor is a good insturment to play however you talk of wanting to play in the extended range which is not easly and harder on tenor.
