Connection problems are some of the most common causes of mouse lag. This is encountered with wireless mice but it can also happen with wired ones. Having a long distance between the Bluetooth receiver and the mouse, a heavily tangled cable, or a problem with the USB port/cable can cause this lagging effect.
How do I check mouse input lag?
1] HTML/JavaScript mouse input performance tests
Open the webpage and simply start moving your mouse cursor in a consistent motion and the tool compares the difference between the hardware cursor and the last recorded mouse position. If you see the screenshot above, there is a red box alongside your mouse cursor.
Do wired mice have input lag?
Generally, wired mice have the lowest latency and Bluetooth mice have the highest latency. A Bluetooth connection isn't ideal for gaming, but it's still good for office use, and most people won't notice any delay unless the latency is extremely high, at which point it can become annoying to use.
What is normal mouse input lag?
This can mean a 1ms - 8ms delay in input getting from the motion of the mouse to the computer. Most gamers use halfway decent mice these days, so we can expect that latency is more like 2ms to 4ms for most wired USB mouse users and 1ms for gamers with higher end mice.
