Can you use lemon oil on maple fretboard?
Never Use Lemon Oil on Maple Fretboards
Do NOT use any kind of lemon oil on your maple fretboard–regardless of whether the product contains actual lemon oil or not. Instead, stick to fretboard conditioners like Music Nomad's F-ONE Oil (may favorite) or plain mineral oil.
Can you put lemon oil on roasted maple neck?
You'll be fine with lemon oil. It's not recommended by some manufacturers because some people use way too much and it could damage the frets if it gets in underneath. Just dab a little on a cloth or paper towel and apply against the light so you can see even light coverage.
Why is lemon oil bad for maple?
Maple doesn't have an open grain to it, so lemon oil is useless on those. The reason you condition open grain woods is so they don't dry out - they get ruff and start to open up - guitar players like them smooth, so we condition them with oil to preserve the wood.
