What is mask resonance?
Mask resonance is a combination of nasal and mouth resonance. ... You do not want to sound too nasal. It does require some practice and the recommendation is to exercise 20 minutes a day. Stand in front of a mirror and say “mmmmmmmm”. You should feel the vibrating sensation in front of your face.
What does a low larynx do?
This upward movement comes from the response of the muscles that suspend the larynx, who's function is for swallowing. Lowering the larynx opposes these muscles during singing and can eventually help to stop them from engaging when you don't want or need them.
Is singing with a low larynx bad?
Equally unhealthy to the singing voice is a depressed (overly low) laryngeal position, as it can cause pathological problems for the voice. While the larynx does need to be relaxed and low during singing, a depressed larynx is both incorrect and damaging.
What determines vocal resonance?
Resonance is the intensity/quality of the tone you hear when you sing or speak. It is caused by the reverberation of sound waves from your vibrating vocal cords; depending on how they travel around before exiting your body. ie if focusing on head voice which cavities in your skull the sound waves bounce off.
