Should you learn how do you read sheet music?
Don't worry–just because you learn how to read sheet music doesn't mean that you're going to lose the ear training you've worked so hard for. You're only going to enhance the musical abilities you already have, and we commend you for having a fantastic ear, as it's an equally important component in music.
Why do we need written notation in music?
In music theory, musical notation is a series of symbols and markings that inform musicians how to perform a composition. It can take a number of forms: Standard notation on 5-line musical staves.
Do you have to be able to read standard notation in order to play music?
You don't need to be able to play a piece straight from the sheet music on sight; just a basic understanding of what it all means will probably suffice. Then if it becomes a core skill in some future playing situation the constant practice will reinforce the skill.
How do you read music staff?
The Staff. The staff consists of five lines and four spaces. Each of those lines and each of those spaces represents a different letter, which in turn represents a note. Those lines and spaces represent notes named A-G, and the note sequence moves alphabetically up the staff.
