What is an impulse response pack?

An Impulse Response (IR for short) is a way you can 'capture' the qualities of a guitar amp speaker, microphone, and room and recreate it almost perfectly in the studio or for live performances. Impulse Responses are different from cabinet simulators and tend to produce more realistic results.

What is an IR for guitar?

An impulse response (or IR) is a sonic measurement of the sound of a speaker, room or microphone in relation to a sound source. In guitar terms, this is usually your amp. After your guitar itself and the dialled-in tone of your amp, there's a lot more that can affect your sound.

How do impulse responses work?

Technically, an Impulse Response, or IR for short, refers to a system's output when presented with a very short input signal called an impulse. Basically, you can send any device or chain of devices a specially crafted audio signal and the system will spit out a digital picture of its linear characteristics.
