What are impulse response files?
An Impulse Response file is basically an audio file in wav format. If you try to play the file through an audio player, the audio is so short that you won't hear anything. But when you load it in an IR loader, you end up with an impressive recreation of the guitar amp speaker and equipment used.
Are impulse responses WAV files?
Impulse responses are typically saved as generic WAV files. Lots of different companies, producers, and artists put out their own impulse responses which allow you to recreate their sound. You can even make your own IRs should you feel so inclined.
How do you capture impulse responses?
The impulse responses or IRs are captured by recording how a space responds to a full range of frequencies (typically 20Hz to 20,000Hz). This is achieved by playing back a burst (impulse) of a full range of frequencies within the space and recording it.
Where do you save impulse responses?
Try placing the IR's in a folder (named Lexicon) in Hard Drive>Library>Audio>Impulse Responses.
