What is compound radius fretboard?
A compound radius neck has a smaller (rounder) radius at the nut, and a larger (flatter) radius at the neck and body joint. As the neck gets wider, the fretboard gets flatter, which is said to be an aid when soloing, especially when bending strings.
How do you make a compound radius?
Compound radius. Play your open chords on a smaller radius down the bottom, Barre on a slightly flatter radius in the middle, and pull those huge string-breaking bends on the flattest radius towards the higher frets. Cool. If that's your cup of tea, go for it.
