What is the time duration of early reflections?
They arrive later than the direct sound, often in a range from 5 to 100 milliseconds, but can arrive before the onset of full reverberation. The early reflections give your brain the information about the size of a room, and for the sense of distance of sounds in a room.
How do you calculate early reflection?
Starting with the left wall, have a friend hold a mirror up against the wall next at your speaker height, then move toward the back of the room. When you can see the reflection of the left speaker in the mirror, mark that spot. That's your first reflection point.
What are early reflections reverb?
Early reflections are those that reach the listener a few milliseconds after the direct signal arrives. Your brain uses them to identify the size of the room you're in. If you are trying to simulate a specific type of room, this control will be extremely important.
Are early reflections bad?
They are not bad. Home speakers are designed to disperse sound in a room. They sound much better in a room (with all its reflections), than they would outdoors (with a lot less reflections).
