Do tube amps need burn in?
You don't burn in vacuum tubes.
Just warm them up for a little while. Turn the unit on and let it blast for an hour before doing any critical listening. No need to burn in anything..
Do guitar amp tubes need to be broken in?
Yes, they do break in. Do they NEED a break in? Not really. Small signal tubes especially will sound good within a few minutes of warming up but they will tend to sound better after a while because everything gets "baked" and molded into shape so to speak.
What happens when a tube goes bad in an amp?
Sometimes you will hear strange sounds, loss of power, or heavily distort sound. These are signs that a tube is failing. Often power loss that seems like the amp is performing at half power or less will be one or more bad power tubes, or even a dying phase inverter tube.
Can tube amps catch on fire?
However, it still works fine. I think tubes may be a fire hazard, but only if left by something that can catch fire easily i.e. papaer, gas, and other flammable stuff. If you have an arching tube .... you guys need to get them out of your amp.
