If you forget to tap OFF, you will be charged the adult fare to the farthest station on that line or route. This is called a “missed tap off adjustment” or an “underpayment”. The amount you owe will be deducted from your card the next time you tap ON, along with the fare for your trip.

What to do if you forget to tap on PRESTO?

If you forget to tap off at the end of your trip, the fare to the furthest destination on the line you travelled on is automatically debited from your card balance the next time you tap your card. For more information contact GO Transit at 1-888-438-6646.

What happens when you forget to tap off?

If you do not tap on but do tap off at the end, you will be charged the default fare. If you tap on at the beginning and then forget to tap off at the end of your trip, you will be charged the default fare for an incomplete trip.

Where do I tap my PRESTO card on the GO Train?

Tap your card on to the PRESTO Fare Payment Device inside the bus near the driver. The machine will validate your card, record the starting point of your trip, and deduct the fare to the next zone on the route. As you leave the bus: Tap your card off to the Fare Payment Device as you exit the bus.

How long do I have to tap off PRESTO?

Transfers are valid for 2 hours from the time of your first tap. If you board other vehicles within 2 hours your tap counts as a transfer.
