How is Idakka made?
It is made from karungali, sandalwood or with wood from the jackfruit tree. It is in the shape of an hour-glass, with the two sides resembling the damaru. Played with a stick, the pitch of the idakka can be changed by pressing the lacing in the middle. The main body is called Kuttyi, which is about half-an-inch thick.
