Are there pianos with smaller keys?
A major disincentive for a pianist wanting to switch to a keyboard of a different size is that they are not easily available. In practical terms, every piano keyboard anywhere is the conventional size. Major piano manufacturers do not produce pianos with narrower keys, except perhaps as a rare, 'special' order.
Why do MIDI keyboards have less keys?
There are some MIDI keyboards that have smaller keys so they can cram more octaves into less space.

If you are planning to use a lot of drum pads or VST midi effects like attack, vibrato, legato, etc., you absolutely MUST have a midi controller. So, if you buy a Digital Piano, you need to look at an additional purchase of an actual MIDI controller, so you can actually use the midi effects.
