What is Cross staff beaming?

Cross-staff beams work in a similar way to normal beams, but allow a phrase that covers a wide pitch range to be shown on two staves. You can create cross-staff beams by inputting all notes in the phrase on one staff and crossing some notes to appear on another staff.

How do you split staves in Finale?

From the Record submenu of the HyperScribe Menu choose Split into Two Staves or from the Split Point submenu of the Transcription Menu choose Fixed. The Fixed Split Point dialog box appears, letting you enter a number. The number refers to a specific note on your MIDI keyboard; middle C is key number 60. Click Listen.
