Does copper shielding work guitar?
You can do this a few ways: copper or aluminum tape, or graphite shielding paint. Shielding paint looks better, but it is expensive. It isn't a good investment unless you have more than a handful of guitars to shield, and it isn't something you can just pick up at the local hardware store either.
How do you use copper foil on a guitar?
Use the self-adhesive copper foil on the back of control cavity covers and pickguards. Be sure the foil on your cover plate or pickguard will come in contact with the shielding applied in the cavity it covers. When shielding pickguards, the foil only needs to be applied in the area of the control cavity.
What does copper shielding do in a guitar?
Power transformers and street lights can also cause interference. A shielded guitar cavity will go a long way towards preventing the interference from reaching your signal. Shielded wire leaves your volume and tone pots exposed, so shielding the cavity does a better job of protecting your guitar.
