Yeah, a Telecaster or a Strat would work well. I really like single coil pickups for strumming chords. I prefer a strat to a tele for this (although I prefer a tele for lead work). A strat, a compression pedal, and maybe a chorus pedal, and you will be in “the strum zone!”
