I use alto sax reeds on alto clarinet and they play a lot easier. Proper alto clarinet reeds are stiff as planks compared to the same strength sax reeds. I think most clarinet reeds are designed for classical players, so they tend to be cut with a stiffer core than a lot of sax reeds.
