Strong magnets are a BIG no-no especially on the vintage spec pickups. The magnets in the pickups are very sensitive to strong magnets and will ruin your pickups...

No, they already are magnets, it's not like hard drives or computer screens. if you put a magnet near/on them it will most likely distort the sound in some weird way but wouldn't ruin them.

~ 630-670 Gauss for a traditional pickup bar magnet. Alnico 5 magnets generate lots of tight lows, balanced midrange, powerful and sharp highs, higher output and a slightly tighter sound. This is probably the most used magnet in guitar pickups today.
How do you increase pickup output?
Best to buy a higher output pickup. If you dont want to amplify the single, you can put a separate volume pot on the humbucker and dial it back. To increase punchiness of blade magnet and low-output pickups, I've always recommended attaching a powerful bar magnet to the base of the pickup to give it more juice.
