How often are Abrsm exams held?

Notes. DipABRSM, LRSM and FRSM diplomas take place in two exam sessions each year. We hope to be able to open the following live Practical exam booking periods as planned.

Is Abrsm Grade 8 equivalent to a level?

The simple answer is: yes (but it's not quite that simple). Grade 8 piano is classed as a Level 3 qualification in the UK. Level 3 qualifications include A-levels, amongst other qualifications. This means that Grade 8 is the equivalent of an A-level in that it falls in the same classification bracket as A-Levels.

Who can take the Abrsm exam?

Candidates may be entered for an exam at any age. The candidate's date of birth must be stated on the online service at the time of making the booking. b. Candidates for practical exams at Grades Initial–5 and Music Theory exams at Grades 1–8 do not need to have taken any other graded exams.
