What is ABC format in music?
The ABC notation is a text-based (ASCII) musical notation format commonly used for folk and traditional music. It is an alphabetical shorthand, using the letters A to G to represent notes and other numbers and symbols to represent note length, sharps, flats, ornaments, etc.
How do you play ABC files?
Start EasyABC, and use the 'File' menu to navigate to and open the abc file. A list of tunes should appear in the left side of the screen. Click on a tune in the list, and it should be shown on the right hand side, with the music score in the top pane, and the abc source in the bottom.
What is ABC file used for?
Music file created in the ABC musical notation language, which stores the composition in a plain text ASCII format; can be translated and laid out in an actual score and also played back using an ABC-compatible application.
