Trumpet valve sticking even after oiling

Trumpet valve sticking even after oiling

The valves are too sticky. This can occur if the oil has caused debris to loosen in the trumpet valve case. It can be fixed by pulling the valve out and thoroughly wiping it with a clean cloth. It will then need to be oiled again before being re-inserted.

Why do my valves keep getting stuck?

Stuck valves are usually caused by a build-up of deposits and/orcorrosion on the valve stem. Because the fit of the stem in theguide is so snug, it doesn't take much build-up on the valve stemto interfere with free movement of the valve within the guide.

How do you fix a sticky valve?

Let the penetrating oil soak for several minutes. Gently tap on the top of the valve springs with a small hammer. Tapping the tops of the valve springs with the hammer will sometimes free up the valve stem shaft so that it can move properly. Replace the valve covers and listen for any clicking or clacking noises.

Why are my trumpet valves sluggish?

Too much oil and your valves will be sluggish, too little oil and your valves will stick. If you don't oil your valves, they will start to get slow and hard to push down and they won't want to come back up. Oiling your valves allows them to move properly reducing the wear inside trumpet valve casings.
