The piece (Prelude in C BWV 846) is graded at level 5 in certain places, but can be played after just a few weeks of piano.
Is Prelude in C hard?
This is a piece I learned a year ago when I had only recently started playing. Known as a "beginner's piece", and indeed quite easy to learn, I think it is actually quite hard to play well (at least for one fairly new to playing piano). Interpretations also vary widely for this piece.
Why did Bach write Prelude in C Major?
For the use and profit of the musical youth desirous of learning as well as for the pastime of those already skilled in this study. it seems likely that Bach wanted to impress the Liepzig authorities.
Is Prelude in C Major polyphonic?
It is not immediately polyphonic (though it can be strongly argued that there are indeed five voices from start to finish), and it is even devoid of a theme. At first glance it is nothing but a series of arpeggiated chords around a nice, but not especially daring, harmonic progression in C Major.
