Can you convert an upright piano to a player piano?

Most grand or upright pianos can be converted into a player piano. There are some pianos that can't be converted due to the fact that they can't accept the cutout of the keyboard that needs to occur. Most of these are older models of pianos from manufacturers that are no longer in business.

You can't realistically change many things about your piano such as the soundboard or the strings. But you can change the tone that is produced when the hammer hits the string. That's where it all happens. Technicians alter the tone by changing the firmness of the hammer.

The cost of doing this procedure is about $475.00 for upright pianos and $575.00 for grand pianos. The other way to solve the problems is by removing the old leads and replacing them with new ones. Replacing key leads is about $900.00.
