Is it bad to rest your pinky on the guitar

I'm starting to think it make things easier at first but in the long run it's better not to; you can strike the strings better if you don't rest any fingers on the guitar. I usually rest a pinky near the sound hole when I'm doing Travis picking but have been experimenting with not doing it at all.

Should you rest pinky on guitar?

There's nothing wrong with doing it, but you won't always want to because it does limit your mobility in you picking hand. Also, if it's causing any pain, you really shouldn't do it. It won't go away, and it could cause long term injury.

Should you anchor your pinky when fingerpicking?

it's a personal choice - anchoring your pinky tends to get your hand in the right position, and is easier to build muscle memory, but you don't need to do it- and if you do, you'll limit your mobility a little. Yup.
