If you want to keep your pick in the strings (I've done it for years...), do it. It will not hurt your guitar a bit and if it happend to effect your tuning a micro cent or so, they put these knobs on the headstock.....

dont worry about it i left my guitar stringless for a month no problems. It doesn't matter. Guitars are left unstrung for extended periods of time during repairs and storage. In fact, it is advised that you loosen the strings when you know you aren't going to be playing it for a long period of time.

The container can be a glass, your guitar case, your wallet, or a handmade DIY case. Be original and don't be afraid of using something unique.
When should you throw away guitar picks?
A guitar pick should be changed as soon as it shows signs of damage or significant wear. Thinner picks 0.7mm or less, are more suseptible to chip, bend or crack and so will probably need replacing more often. Every so often check your pick for damage, particuarly before starting a new recording or song.
Why you shouldn't use a guitar pick?
It slips away between their fingers, the pick doesn't hit the strings like they want to and they don't like the sound of it. Others can't get their fingers to do what their supposed to be doing and they can't stand how stiff the finger muscles move.
