How to Connect Effects Pedals to your Amp and Guitar
- Make sure your amp is turned off.
- Connect your guitar cable to your guitar.
- Then plug the other end into the “input” side of your pedal.
- Plug another guitar cable into the “output” side of your pedal.
- Then plug the other end into the “input” on your amp.
Do pedals go before or after amp?
As you can see the Drive, Distortion and Fuzz pedals are before the pre-amp as you want them to affect the sound, whereas the EQ, Modulation, Delay and Reverb pedals are set after the pre-amp as you want to take the tone of the pre-amp and hear that correctly without colouring it.
How do I set up my pedals?
To set up your guitar pedal, you need to:
- Turn everything off.
- Attach your amp and pedal up to the power.
- Attach your guitar to the input jack.
- Link the output jack of the guitar to the input jack of the pedal.
- Lessen the effect knobs of your amp.
- Switch the amp on and set your levels.
- Try out your pedal.
